Every other year up until I was 16, my family would travel to Stockbridge, Massachusetts and stay at the Red Lion Inn for Thanksgiving. The Red Lion Inn is an inn like no other; it has been in continuous operation since the 18th century, features three restaurants, and a gift shop. The best part about the Inn is that it seemingly has not changed; you get the same feeling when you walk in, no matter how much time has passed.
Our family trips to the Inn were wonderful - filled with trips down to the gift shop, walking down Main Street, eating breakfast in our room while watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade, and a formal Thanksgiving dinner in the Dining Room.
My husband and I wanted to take an overnight trip a few weeks ago, and we ended up going to Stockbridge. We stayed at a Bed and Breakfast, about 10 minutes away from The Red Lion, and had a wonderful weekend getaway.
We explored Great Barrington, and of course made a stop at The Red Lion Inn. Below you'll find photos of our journey, and links to the most notable places we visited.
I hope you one day get to visit The Berkshires; it is a lovely area, and you will leave feeling refreshed and recharged (at least I always do).
